Many today think that loving Jesus is simply admitting that He is the Messiah and saying "I believe that Jesus is the Son of the living God." But what is actually involved in "loving Jesus"? Is loving Jesus something that is pure emotion? Do we just 'feel' strong emotions that are stirred within us toward Jesus?

Well, I believe the answer to these questions can be found in God's inspired Word. John 14:23 tells us: "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will keep My word: and My Father will love him, and make Our abode with him." The word for 'love' here is "Agape" which some have termed 'the characteristic word of Christianity' because the Holy Spirit used this word to express ideas previously unknown. This love can only be known by the action it prompts, so we find Jesus telling us that if we care about Him, we are going to be doing what He wants us to do, to the best of our ability!
